About
Elemental Milling Co. operates out of Mt. Shasta, California — a small town at 3,500 feet where the Cascades meet the edge of the high desert. We started in 2018 with a portable sawmill and a flatbed truck, taking down hazard trees and milling lumber for local landowners.
The operation has grown, but the approach hasn't changed. We source our timber from the forests within a 60-mile radius of the mountain — cedar, pine, fir, and the occasional black walnut. We mill it on-site or at our yard, dry it, and either deliver it as rough-cut lumber or shape it into finished furniture, mantels, and architectural pieces.
We're veteran-owned. No showroom, no middlemen. You deal directly with the people running the mill and doing the work. If you've got timber on your land, we can come to you. If you need material, we've got stock or can cut to your dimensions.

Services
From raw timber to finished product — milling, woodworking, and land services for homeowners, builders, and contractors across Northern California.
We cut dimensional lumber, beams, posts, and boards to your exact specifications. Whether you need framing material for a build, thick timbers for a post-and-beam structure, or specialty cuts in unusual sizes — we set the blade and run it.
Request a QuoteWe bring the sawmill to your property. If you've got downed trees, hazard trees, or standing timber you want turned into usable lumber, we set up on-site and mill it where it fell. Your trees become your material — no hauling costs, no waste.
Request a QuoteComplete material kits for building projects — cabins, barns, fencing, decking, pergolas, and outbuildings. We calculate the cut list, mill everything to dimension, and deliver it bundled and ready to build. Takes the sourcing out of your hands.
Request a QuoteCedar, pine, fir, and walnut slabs for tables, countertops, bar tops, mantels, and shelving. We cut, dry, and flatten them in-house. Each slab keeps the natural edge and grain character of the original tree — no two are the same.
Request a QuoteDining tables, coffee tables, benches, desks, and shelving — built from our own milled timber. We work with you on dimensions and design, then build it in the shop. The wood comes from these mountains and the joinery is done by hand.
Request a QuoteGrading, trenching, road building, lot clearing, defensible space, and fire mitigation. We handle the heavy equipment side of land work in Siskiyou County — from driveway cuts on steep lots to full property clearing for new construction.
Request a QuoteOur Timber
All of our timber comes from the forests surrounding Mt. Shasta — Siskiyou County land at elevations between 3,000 and 5,500 feet. The cold winters and dry summers produce slow-growth softwoods with tight grain and natural resistance to rot and insects.
We primarily work with Ponderosa pine, sugar pine, incense cedar, Douglas fir, and white fir. Occasionally we get black walnut, madrone, or manzanita from lower elevations. Most of our timber comes from fire mitigation clearing, hazard tree removal, and private land management — trees that would otherwise be chipped or burned.
Every piece we mill carries the character of this landscape. Tight rings from cold growing seasons. Mineral staining from volcanic soils. Knots and burls shaped by mountain wind. It's not perfect lumber — it's better.
“He that plants trees loves others besides himself.”

Process
Every piece of lumber starts as a standing tree in these mountains. Here's how it gets from the forest to your project.
Timber is sourced from local forests — fire mitigation clearing, hazard tree removal, and private land management within 60 miles of Mt. Shasta.
Logs are milled on a portable bandsaw mill, cut to your requested dimensions. We can mill on-site at your property or at our yard.
Lumber is air-dried or kiln-dried depending on the project. From there it can be planed, sanded, sealed, or built into furniture and architectural pieces.
Finished material is delivered to your property, job site, or shop. We handle logistics for projects across Siskiyou, Shasta, and surrounding counties.
From Our Clients
“Had them mill about 3,000 board feet of pine that was cleared from our property for defensible space. They set up right on-site and had it all cut and stacked within two days. The lumber is beautiful — using it for a deck and a small outbuilding.”
Mark D.
McCloud, CA
“Ordered a live-edge dining table for our cabin. They walked us through the slab options, let us pick the one we wanted, and had the table finished in about three weeks. The craftsmanship is outstanding — this thing will outlast the house.”

“Used Elemental for a complete lumber package for a 600 sq ft ADU build. They milled all the framing lumber, siding, and trim to spec. Saved us a fortune compared to buying from a lumber yard, and the quality of the wood is noticeably better.”
